Teeth whitening is designed to lighten the colour of your teeth. This can be achieved in a couple of different ways.
What is the whitening process?
There are a couple of ways that whitening can be achieved:
At home whitening- this will involve taking impressions of the upper and lower teeth in order to have thin plastic whitening trays made that will fit your teeth exactly. Once these have been made and fitted then the whitening gel can be applied to the trays. We recommend wearing the trays at night over the course of 2-3 weeks in which your teeth will significantly go lighter.
In surgery whitening- this is a whitening procedure that is performed in the dental chair and takes only 10 minutes. This is more of a kick start before doing the at home whitening or if you would just prefer a slight lift in the shade of your teeth to improve the appearance. This will involve the whitening gel being applied to each tooth and then the whitening blue light is placed over all of your teeth for 10 minutes which will gradually lift the shade of your teeth.
