Skin lesions are areas of skin that are growing abnormally or look different from the surrounding skin. If it is necessary to remove the lump, the treatment will be performed under local anaesthesia in the clinic which means you will be awake during the removal. Once the lump is removed, the wound will be closed with stitches, cauterised or covered with a dressing. On occasion, the clinician may recommend the specimen be sent to a pathologist for analysis.
